I also read what was expressed by Sasha with serious concern.

This may have nothing to do with any sort of SubStack action, but recently, on one of my articles (which I have a tendency to make numerous edits after the original publication), I was informed twice something to the effect that "the time limit has passed"......I was like "WHAT THE EFF???". After, I got this message initially I clicked the button again and same message was received. Usually, after being told twice I can't do something, I don't try again, but I did try again and mysteriously the article published on the 3rd attempt and this has not happened again since.....maybe it was a blip?

Regardless, I think it comes with the territory of communication that efforts will be made to reign in any forum that strays too far from the "elitist narrative", and SubStack is not immune to this, so it will be important for all to keep their antennas up to identify this if it happens in a pre-emptive sort of way, but at the end of the day, if folks outside of the "elitist ambitions" start diminishing in presence on SubStack, then that will be telling and I reckon it will mean - time to find a new place. I hope not because I invested in SubStack with the understanding the censorship was strictly "verboten" on the forum. So, this is something they need to nip in the bud if my investment is going to be worth anything in the future.

Regards,

BK

Thanks a lot for that info. I made a small investment in Substack also, hope it was worth it.

Thorsteinn - great "Icelandic" name I'm thinking - man, I loved Iceland when we visited and have basically nothing but fond memories of the place other than the time I got sick when we were there (in June 2019) which was the last time I've been ill enough to be incapacitated in ability, and with the exception of security provisions at the Reykjavik airport (my wife...ha, ha....got picked out for further examination).

I think I am going to subscribe to your place based on this article and I will also pay for it! Best part of this, it is is my own choice to do this. I do it willingly and I have no expectations in return, I just want to support like-minded folks working hard to communicate - as I am.

At my place, I have yet to "turn on" paid subscribers and there have been times when I think SubStack sort of considers writers such as myself who don't facilitate the "flow of money" as sort of 2nd class members of the writers in the forum, but I don't think that is the case at all - in fact, it is writers such as myself that don't want any payment and don't need it, that I think will be the deciding factor in whether SubStack achieves its potential because it is writers such as I (and others) who will bring more readers to the forum as a whole and that is of value.

What mainly informs my sentiment not to ask subscribers for any contribution besides the fact that basically I don't need fiscal assistance, is if I did, then I would feel somewhat compelled to provide material for those who put their faith in me with their pocketbook, and that is the last thing I need - another committment....so for me, my preference is to not ask for any contribution and then it is truly an open forum where those who care will participate and there can be no expectations of me to provide content. For me, I get fulfillment in sharing ideas with others and that is priceless.

Peace to you!

Should you come back here, make sure you get in touch so we can meet up. And thanks so much for subscribing. Highly appreciate it.

I can't help myself, so I hope you don't mind.....when we were in Iceland and was me, the love of my life and we are coming up on are 32nd anniversary, my oldest daughter and my youngest daughter being I only have two and they are separated by about 3 years.

We went to the Blue Lagoon of course and that was magnificent, but we also went off the beaten track a bit and my favorite part was at the flat in Reykjavik literally a hop skip and jump from the coast there were so many wonderful Icelandic places we could just walk to.....I mean we like to have flexibility and I don't support no 15-min city in concept, but it was nice to just go down the road and get a pastry.

Oh gosh.....I do want to go back to Iceland, but I refuse to fly on a plane, so maybe later sometime there will be a dirigible I could take and we could have a nice easy floating journey to get there - now that would great and if I do, for sure I will look you up!

(ha, ha)

I remember in June the light never went away....

For sure on that because writing and sharing really is independent of flow of money....that is what I think and I'll take that to my grave.

With that said, no reason writers ought not get paid for sharing ideas, but remember this not all of us want to get paid cause that ain't our purpose.

You know?

Just like a sound check, testing, testing, to see if new "shutdowns" in their system work.

If Substack is actually unsubscribing people, that would be interesting-- I have tried to unsubscribe a couple substacks after reading a while and deciding they weren't for me... and I can't for the life of me figure out how. So now I just delete those from my inbox without reading, but I really wish I could unsubscribe and avoid the clutter! Is it even possible?

It's simple. If you promise not to unsubscribe from mine I'll show you how :)

Hah! So far, you don't seem to keep posting even when you've run out of things to report, just to stay "current" in newsfeeds. I appreciate that!

That said, I should probably just stop being lazy and query a search-engine about it ;)
