The success of Sweden may be viewed as a victory for the cool-headed utilitarianism of the sober and conscientious public health bureaucrats, at all times keeping their eyes on the big picture.
Thanks for bringing some more attention back to the closest nation we have to a "placebo" group.
I love this sentence:
"The question remains why a deeply flawed model concocted by a doomsayer proven wrong time after time became the cornerstone of pandemic strategies elsewhere."
Yes, that question does remain ... or should remain. Why do we give such massive influence to experts who have been spectacularly wrong time and time again?
"The success of Sweden is of huge importance, for it undermines the mantra that we had no choice. The Herd provides an excellent insight into the chain of events behind it."
Thanks for a brilliant piece, informative and insightful as usual.
I just bought the Kindle edition of the book, should make great reading.
Swedens approach was truly remarkable by any standards, and a lesson for future generations, albeit their gusto for vaccination seems out of place, maybe the book has an answer.
It seemed to me that in the UK in March 2020, the cool heads knew about the profits and gains to be made, while the thick unscientific ones panicked before anything else.
"The question remains why a deeply flawed model concocted by a doomsayer proven wrong time after time became the cornerstone of pandemic strategies elsewhere."
Green ideology paved the way for this.
Ferguson predicted another apocalypse and people indoctrinated by green ideology were receptive to it.
Ferguson is obviously not an originator but he put into practice what has long been taught.
Essentially, green ideology rejects Man's means of survival: reason. Wherever reason is rejected, a feeling of doom follows.
Did the Swedes ever say it was growing exponentially? It never does as that would break the laws of Mathematics, it actually grows between zero and exponentially according to a logit-normal distribution. See my substack for more details.
Slight tangent sharing if anyone is curious - Sebastian Rushworth - a Swedish hospital doctor early on wrote a very good summary book from a Swedish perspective - “Covid: Why most of what you know is wrong”.
There is also a very good video interview with “data man” Ivor Cummins going through the book with him 😊🙏
The masks are proliferating here; lessons do not appear to have been learned and herd immunity is yrumped by herd gullibility.
The GP surgery still displays a notice advising that masks must be worn on the premises and young lives have been devastated, both socially, mentally and in terms of education, developmental milestones and prospects.
There are some slippery justifications materialising in our supine media, along the lines of : ' we did our best, lives were saved bythe vaccines , the young will bounce back'.
Judging by the prevailing mood here, the lockdown enthusiasts and panickers are awaiting the next crisis: another opportunity to imprison themselves and ignore the ensuing devastation.

A great pity the King of Sweden King Carl XVI Gustaf did not have the testicular fortitude and caved in under threat by the Psychopaths.
