#deletePaypal - Perhaps the Most Important Action in Defense of Free Speech Right Now
No more is this just a question of silencing people on social media platforms; they are trying to take away people’s livelihoods now.
The PayPal payment service has recently taken a hard line against users' freedom of expression. A couple of weeks back, Paypal's actions against the Free Speech Union, the Daily Skeptic and others recently had people rushing to close their accounts in protest. Last Friday, October 7th, Paypal announced new terms of service, under which the company reserves the right to charge $2,500 from people's accounts if it believes they have expressed themselves in a way the company doesn't like.
After strong backlash, the company has now claimed the new terms were sent out “in error”. I leave it to my readers to decide how credible this explanation is and what to expect. At least I won’t set up an account with them again any time soon.
Actions by financial institutions against freedom of speech mean that censorship has now reached a new and much more serious level than before. No more is this just a question of silencing people on social media platforms; they are trying to take away people’s livelihoods now. This must be fought with all means available.
One of the most important actions we can take immediately is to make Paypal feel the consequences of their behavior and stop doing business with the company.

#deletePayPal
Cancelled my account 10 days ago. As I said in a message to them I don’t expect my little account to make much difference but multiply that by 100s or 1000s and they might begin to feel that.
This ‘moral’ stance taken by financial bodies began some time ago and I first noticed it when my bank started virtual signalling about Ukraine. As I said to them, I do not want my financial institutions moralising and pushing their political views onto me - as long as a payment is legal it is not up to any institution to have any say on the matter.
I deleted my PayPal account today. As a former eBay Power Seller, this will inconvenience me some, but it is a stand that needs to be taken to remind companies not to abuse their power via viewpoint discrimination. I deleted Twitter the very day that they silenced a sitting President. Have not and will not go back.
