Now the US is again requiring Covid tests from Chinese travellers and those coming from certain airports in Canada and Korea. Italy demands the same from Chinese travellers and has demanded the EU also applies the same rule.
Are we really heading back into the same situation? What will the excuse be this time? That we must wait for a vaccine that actually works?
Isn't this just politics, of the old school variety? Seems like the US is just showing that it can ban Chinese citizens from entering the States because it can and the Chinese govt will have to suck it up. Just to show everyone that the USA is still Numero Uno in the world. Not sure why Canadian airports are included but maybe they are the ones the Chinese use. Italy would be jumping on a passing bandwagon!
I agree - it's punishment of sorts. Australia will buckle, though. Imagine, they stopped their own citizens who were living abroad from re-entering their country of origin due to the 'science' for two years but the current corporate-Marxist government will no doubt welcome the Chinese tourists and migrants with open arms. How about if the West instead took the Chinese government to court for reparations of trillions of dollars for destroying economies and lives?
It’s positively remarkable to me that people from all over the world are literally POURING over our southern border by the MILLIONS now & nary a test to be taken nor jab to be given. And yet now the Chinese will have to have a negative test to enter. They may as well just book a flight to Juarez or Tijuana & walk across. We are truly living “Idiocracy”
The pseudo-vaccines and boosters have made the vaxxed portion of the population vulnerable to even the mildest Covid variants to a degree not seen in the unvaxxed. The mechanism causing this damage to the immune-system is well established. The Chinese are potential carriers of new Covid variants. Closing down all travel into the EU from China therefore makes perfect sense if your aim is to prevent your national hospitals from overflowing. As not every EU member state is doing this at the same time as first movers like Italy, there is a need to avoid travellers from China entering the EU through those relaxed states and then travelling onwards into Italy. It is likely that Italy and other hysterical states will start imposing quarantine and testing requirements for ALL arriving travellers as it is impossible to determine who came from China and who didn't. So, the excuse for these travel restrictions will be protecting the hospitals.
